Bloodstock Open Air 2016 – Sunday (Day 3)

Bloodstock had come to an end once again, but there was still one final day full of thrash metal titans, legends of extreme metal, a super group and lots of alcohol. Booking Ghost Bath for their first UK gig and putting them on at 10:45 might have been an odd move for some, but as a wake up call Ghost Bath certainly woke the crowd and campsite up. Ghost Bath were an odd choice and I’m still undecided as to if it was genius or silly. Atmospherically they would have been better in the tent, but inevitably their place on the main stage drew in many more punters. Ghost Bath though despite being in the sun, were absolutely brilliant. Their performance for many was a Marmite performance but for me it was one of the best of the weekend. Nameless’ painful screams were unique and the atmosphere they created was superb. ‘Death and the Maiden’ and ‘Golden Number’ were mesmerising and two songs of the day. However my main gripe was the comedians in the crowd who were imitating Nameless’ screams. At first it was funny but it grew tiresome quickly, especially during the beautiful piano moments.
